Taiwan MRT System
Currently, five cities in Taiwan have MRT systems, with Taipei being the first to begin operations in 1996. After that, the Kaohsiung MRT opened in 2008, the Taoyuan MRT(International Airport Access MRT System) opened in 2017, the New Taipei MRT opened in 2018, and the Taichung MRT opened in 2021.
The Taipei Metro is currently the most convenient transportation in Taipei. There is an MRT train every 3-6 minutes during peak hours. There is an MRT train every 6-12 minutes during off-peak hours. MRT trains take you to almost everywhere in Taipei city and New Taipei city. It is clean cheap fast and convenient. Each station has free and clean public toilets.
Where to buy EasyCard
Each MRT station has an automatic ticketing system where you can buy tickets. When taking the MRT, it is best to have an EasyCard on hand. It is sold at MRT stations,7-11 and FamilyMart convenience stores, priced at NT$100. EasyCard can be reloaded and can be used for MRT, buses, and Youbike (city bike in Taiwan). EasyCard can be used on all MRT lines in Taiwan.

．No drones are allowed without prior permission.
．No bicycle riding.
．Do not light any flames.
．Do not carry dangerous or inflammable objects.
．No rollerblades, roller skates, skateboards, foldable push scooters or other similar items.
Passengers who smoke, eat, drink, chew gum or betel nut in prohibited eating areas on the MRT will be fined between NT$1,500 to NT$7,500. However, if there are urgent physiological needs, you can still drink water or take medicine, but you must inform station staff first.
